The best of 2011

2011 was an amazing year for me. I got to photograph some wonderful couples and grow my myself both as a person and a photographer. I got to shoot at some amazing venues including Mitton Hall, Stanley House, Stonyhurst College, The Inn at Whitewell, Bartle Hall and Mottram Hall to name but a few. On a more personal note, I got to see my little boy develop from a baby into a toddler and I even learnt some new cookery skills! Here’s just a short slideshow with some of my favourite images from the weddings I shot in 2011. Here’s to 2012 and all the new goals that await for me. Enjoy!

Mottram Hall Wedding Photography

Sharon & Martin had their wedding at the beautiful Mottram Hall. It was my first time photographing here but hopefully not my last as the gardens are stunning! This bride is a very talented lady. Not only did she do all the bridal party make-up (Sharon is a make-up artist by trade), she did all the flowers for the bouquets, button holes and table decorations and made the cake!!

Sadly it was my last wedding of 2011 today but what a corker. What an amazing day for the end of October! Sharon & Martin were married at Mottram Hall in Cheshire. This is a gorgeous venue and the first time I’ve ever worked there – hopefully not the last as the grounds are just gorgeous. Anyway here’s a sneak peek. The photographs will be available to view in the on-line gallery once the bride and groom have returned from honeymoon and the password will be their new surname. My lovely friends Gary & Emma were married at Stanley House followed by a reception there. This was my first time doing wedding photography at Stanley house and what a gorgeous venue. The gardens are stunning, complete with wild bunnies running around and there are loads of little quirky bits of furniture, it really is a photographer’s dream. It was a very emotional ceremony and all in all just a gorgeous day along with the late summer sun. I feel very privileged (as I do with all my couples) to have been asked to photograph their wedding.

Lynsey & Lee married in a lovely intimate ceremony at one of my favourite venues. I love photographing at Mitton Hall. Lee was a very emotional groom and there was plenty laughter and tears throughout the ceremony. Lynsey’s very clever sister did all the floral arrangements which included hydrangea – one of my favourites and very popular this year. Anyway here are a few of my favourites from their wedding.

York Barn Wedding – Sara & Tom

Sara & Tom had a, what you might call, unconventional wedding, and I loved it. All of the elements of details that had gone into planning the reception was fantastic. The bouquets had vintage buttons in them, the bride arrived in a vintage Morris Minor. It’s so great when B&G’s think outside the box and it gives me loads of amazing stuff to photograph After a lovely ceremony at a beautiful church the couple had their reception at Billy Bartram’s farm barn and did a fabulous job of converting it from an empty room into a stunning and quirky reception venue.

Alex & Phil were married at the stunning Stoneyhurst College Chapel followed by a reception at Mitton Hall. There were lots of amazing details to photograph and a lot of thought and preparations had gone into the day. Unfortunately the weather turned out to be one of those awful days when it never stopped spitting but it didn’t stop them having an amazing and unforgettable day.

Stephanie & Adam live in Sheffield but Stephanie grew up in Chester so she went home to get married. They married in her family church in Neston before moving to Chester Racecourse for their reception. It was a beautiful day to photograph with a stunning bride, handsome groom and lots of laughs and a few tears.

It’s very unusual for me to photograph a wedding where I haven’t met the bride and groom until the wedding day, but that’s exactly what happened today. Sara & Tom live in Nottingham so it’s a bit of a trek to come up to Bolton to see me. I have however spoken with them on the phone on numerous occasions and they turned out to be just as warm and lovely as they were on the phone. I can’t wait to show you this wedding in full as it was detail-tastic but in the mean time here’s a sneak peek.

An invitation to a wedding

Look what just came in the post! I am so excited to have received an invitation from my Bride & Groom for Saturday and look at their awesome invitation. Obviously I will be there in a professional capacity which makes it even more lovely to get a proper invite. When I first spoke to Sara about her wedding and she told me there was going to be bunting, I couldn’t wait to photograph it. I love bunting!

I always knew this was going to be emotional when I was asked to photograph this wedding. The bride and groom married in the same church, had the same reception venue and the bride was even getting ready in the same room as my husband and I stayed on our wedding night. Carly and Jon were married at St Michaels and had their reception at the Inn at Whitewell in the beautiful Ribble Valley. I hope you enjoy this selection of wedding photographs.
