Getting to know you

To me one of the most important things about choosing a photographer is getting along with them. If you don’t gel with your photographer, the pictures can look awkward and set-up. It’s important to try and get to know your photographer before your big day. That’s why a pre-wedding shoot is important. You get to spend time with your photographer and get comfortable with them. The other great way to get to know your photographer is through things like their blog and Facebook pages. I try to give snippets of information about myself in order to help you, the audience, to know me a little better. That’s why I have a little category called Behind the Lens. This is all about me and my life when I’m not being a photographer. I have been very bad of late at updating this so I will try to give you more from now on, I promise

Mini Shoot – Sam

Today I did a little mini shoot with my good friend Sam Clayton. And boy it was a mini shoot because it was absolutely freezing! We spent more time drinking warm drinks and eating fish finger and sausage butties respectively than taking photo’s but we had great fun. Sam is a fellow photographer and you can check out her beautiful work here. P.S. what a great hat!

Belle Epoque – Styled Shoot

Last week I had the honour of working with some really creative and talented people. We all worked together on a collaboration with a Marie Antoinette theme, while still remaning bridal based. It’s really great to work on collaborations because everybody gets to let loose and do something that they wouldn’t normally do. A frosty, winter Beloved Shoot

Suzanne & Richard braved a cold winter morning at Heaton park so I could get some pictures of them for their pre-wedding shoot. They are such a thoughtful and lovely couple that they even brought me a cupcake in a box to say thanks – how nice is that Anyway here are my favourite images from the session.

Behind the scenes

OK, so I can’t share the images from yesterday’s shoot with you just yet but I can perhaps give you a little taster by showing you some behind the scenes pictures. To explain a little better, yesterday I took part in an amazing collaboration with some other creatives for an exclusive blog post (which shall be revealed in due course). It was a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of them. The final results are definitely worth waiting for. In the mean time…

The best of 2011

2011 was an amazing year for me. I got to photograph some wonderful couples and grow my myself both as a person and a photographer. I got to shoot at some amazing venues including Mitton Hall, Stanley House, Stonyhurst College, The Inn at Whitewell, Bartle Hall and Mottram Hall to name but a few. On a more personal note, I got to see my little boy develop from a baby into a toddler and I even learnt some new cookery skills! Here’s just a short slideshow with some of my favourite images from the weddings I shot in 2011. Here’s to 2012 and all the new goals that await for me. Enjoy!

Bride of the Year

Do you know someone who got married in 2011? Then why not enter them into our Bride of the Year competition? All you have to do is post a picture of the bride on her wedding day to our Facebook wall. They will be voted for by the public and the winner will get an amazing Rock the Frock session with Alex Davies Photography. That’s right, another chance to wear your wedding dress! The only rules are that they must be a UK resident and have got married in 2011. The finalists will be announced at the end of February, with voting taking place throughout March and the winner will be announced in April. Good Luck!
